SOMERS, N.Y. - The New York State Police have announced the arrest of Vadim E. Farmakis, 38, of Brooklyn, following an investigation into a grand larceny incident involving Heritage Hills Society LTD.
(According their website, The Heritage Hills Society governs the condominium complex’s activity center, swimming pools, tennis courts, paddle tennis courts, bocce courts, and fitness center.)
The investigation determined that in December 2023, a check belonging to Heritage Hills Society in the amount of $23,187.01 was stolen, altered, and deposited into an account held by Farmakis. Subsequent withdrawals totaling $22,000 were made from that account.
On Oct. 10, Farmakis was arrested and charged with Grand Larceny in the Third Degree (Class D Felony) and Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Third Degree (Class A Misdemeanor).
Farmakis was arraigned before the Town of Somers Court and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in court again on Oct. 20.
