Somers Girls Lacrosse Preview: Tuskers set their sights on league title

SOMERS, N.Y. - Each season brings turnover, and the departure of players like Sydney Ingraham has left its mark on the girls lacrosse roster. With just two seniors—Mia Paulmeno and Bella Mancini—Coach Deb Daly sees plenty of upside in a team that isn’t top-heavy.

“The chemistry isn’t about leaning on just a few players—we’re going to rely on the entire team,” she said.

On attack, Elana Kellock, Sophia Connors, Shea Mullins, and Kate Barton will lead the way, using their ability to move the ball effectively. “They share the ball,” Daly noted.

In transition, the midfield group is prepared to contribute on both ends of the field. Caitlyn Mayfield, Paulmeno, Sophie Bernardi, Lily Lassen, and Elana Marcus have all impressed early. “They look good so far,” Daly said.

Defensively, Meadow Dondl, Bella Collins, Victoria Barton, and Marissa Puccini form a strong unit in front of goalie Emma Donaldson, who brings more than just skill between the pipes. “She’s the first one here and the last one to leave,” Daly said, praising her leadership.

Daly also highlighted Mayfield’s impact beyond her play. “She’s just a great spirit,” the coach added.

As for the team’s biggest rival, there’s no mystery there. “It’s always John Jay—but you’ve got to love them,” Daly said with a smile.

Regardless of the opponent, the goal remains the same. “We want to win the league championship and be competitive in the playoffs,” Daly concluded.
