SOMERS, N.Y. - On Thursday, Sept. 18, Somers hosted White Plains at the high school, and for most of the first half the score remained even at 0–0. But the flow of play told a different story, as White Plains controlled possession and eventually broke through for a decisive 5–0 win.
The Tigers spent much of the opening period pressuring in the Somers end. Goalkeeper Caitlyn Mayfield and defenders Alivia DiGiacomo and Jessica Bowden turned away several early chances, keeping the game scoreless until the final minutes of the half.
With 1:30 remaining, Alexis Tighe set up Brooke Thomas for the opening goal, and moments later Micalyn Kelly found Tighe again, sending White Plains into halftime with a 2–0 lead.
The momentum carried into the second half. Tighe struck again at 10:59, and White Plains never let up, tacking on two more goals before the final whistle.
Despite the one-sided score, Somers battled throughout, with Mayfield and Bowden leading the defensive effort against the relentless White Plains attack.
