SOMERS, N.Y. - Five-year-old Watson Padovani is proving that you're never too young to make a difference.
On Sunday, June 7, Watson hosted his third annual charity lemonade stand outside Bobo’s Café in Somers, raising more than $2,000 for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to funding childhood cancer research and supporting families affected by the disease.
The event drew strong support from local residents who stopped by to purchase lemonade and contribute to the cause. (Donations are still being accepted online here.)
According to Watson’s mother Ashley, this year's fundraiser was the most successful yet.
“Thanks to the incredible support of our community, he raised a little over $2,000 for childhood cancer research and awareness,” she said. “We are so thankful to everyone who stopped by to support this cause.”
Watson, who attends Primrose Elementary School, has embraced the fundraiser as a way to help children facing serious illnesses.
“My son participates because he is learning how fortunate he is to be healthy and what it means to be charitable, help others and give back to children and families facing difficult circumstances,” Padovani said. “It has been amazing to watch such a young child become so passionate about helping others.”
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation was established in memory of Alexandra “Alex” Scott, who began raising money through lemonade stands while battling childhood cancer. Since its founding, the organization has raised millions of dollars to support pediatric cancer research and programs for affected families.
Padovani also expressed gratitude to Bobo’s Café for once again hosting the event.
“We are incredibly grateful to Bobo’s for allowing us to hold the stand there again this year,” she said.
