Dear Editor,
I’ve known Ed Lachterman for more than a decade — not through politics, but through a shared passion for community service. Ed has always been someone you could count on to show up, roll up his sleeves and help wherever there was a need.
As a proud member of the Yorktown Lions Club, Ed was always first in line to volunteer. Over the years, I’ve seen him support countless local causes and organizations, including the Alliance for Safe Kids, My Brother Vinny, United for the Troops, the Hudson Valley Honor Flight, the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce, Yorktown Against Heroin and the Sons of the American Legion.
What’s important to know is that Ed was doing this long before running for office. He didn’t do it for attention or headlines — he did it because that’s who he is: A true neighbor, a compassionate leader and someone who believes deeply in the power of service.
In all my years working in the community, I have never met a more dedicated and genuine leader who has gone on to serve in public office. Ed continues to prove every day that he is the right person to lead Yorktown forward.
