Cold weather delays reopening of Route 100 in Somers

SOMERS, N.Y. - A section of Route 100 in Somers will remain closed for at least another week.

The culvert replacement project, which began in October, affects the road between Route 35 and Moseman Avenue. Muscoot Farm, a county park, is still accessible from the north.

Supervisor Robert Scorrano announced Tuesday that the completion of work is again being delayed by the cold weather, which makes paving unsafe.

“I know this continues to be frustrating, especially given how long the road has been closed. Safety must come first for both the crews performing the work and the drivers using the roadway,” he said, adding the that state DOT is monitoring conditions “closely.”

Scorrano promised to keep folks updated and thanked everyone for their patience.
