Robert L. Cecere, known as Bob to his friends and as Doc to the community he served, passed away on Aug. 20, 2026, at his home in Shrub Oak, New York, at the age of 92.
Bob lived a life marked by faith, service, and devotion. He was selfless man whose steady presence brought comfort and strength to his family, friends, neighbors, and all who knew him. A Catholic in word and deed, he built his life around three pillars that guided him faithfully each day, which were love for his family, devotion to his faith, and dedication to his community.
He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth L. Sarasin, who predeceased him, and together they shared a life grounded in love. He was a devoted father to Donna J. Cecere, R. Craig Cecere (Christine), Sandra L. Wimbert (Paul), Linda K. Gordineer (Billy), and Rosemarie B. Cecere (Steven), and carried in his heart, always, his late son Steven M. Cecere. Bob cherished his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and found great joy in being part of their lives, offering encouragement, wisdom, and quiet strength. He was also a loving brother to Anthony Cecere and Patricia Mauro, and he carried his family relationships with tenderness and loyalty.
Bob was born and raised with a strong sense of responsibility and purpose, qualities that remained with him throughout his years. He pursued his education with dedication and earned a degree in Pharmacology from Fordham University, preparing himself for a career of care and service. He went on to serve as a pharmacist and caregiver to the community for decades at Yorktown Pharmacy in Yorktown Heights, New York, where he became a trusted and compassionate presence to countless people. He offered reassurance, kindness, and a calm spirit to those who came to him for help. His professionalism and compassion made him a respected member of the community.
His life was a reflection of Catholic values. He believed in doing what was right, helping others without hesitation, and placing the needs of others before his own. His faith was not simply something he spoke about, but something he lived through his actions, his patience, and his gentle manner.
Those who knew Bob will remember his loving heart, his steadfast faith, his selfless spirit, and his passion for the Yankees and chocolate. He had a way of making others feel seen and valued, and his presence brought peace and reassurance. He was a man of quiet strength, and his example will continue to live on in the lives of those he touched. His family and friends will forever treasure the memories of his kindness, his devotion, and the deep love he gave so freely.
Bob’s passing leaves a profound emptiness, but his life leaves behind a rich legacy of faith, family, and service. He lived with dignity and grace, and he met life’s joys and burdens with courage and trust in God.
He will be remembered always with love and gratitude by his family and by all whose lives were made better through his presence.
