It is with profound sadness that we announce the loss of our cherished brother, Bob. He passed in the early morning hours of January 23rd, while at Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, NY. Born In Newark, NJ, Bob leaves behind his beloved wife Christine Rodgers, and stepdaughter Gina Pietronuto, his siblings Francis X. Rodgers III (Maria), Patrick J. Rodgers (Ginger), Mary Rose Rodgers-Patucci (Enrico) and Christopher J. Rodgers (Shawna), as well as many loving aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends and their extended families.
Bob lived in West Orange, Spring Lake and North Caldwell, NJ, and Croton on Hudson and Brewster, NY. He was a graduate of West Essex High School where he was a champion cross-country runner, wrestler and track athlete as well as a member of the esteemed Marching Band. He loved to play the guitar and to sing. He was a gifted singer-songwriter who played with his band in and around Manhattan, including a legendary performance at the Caldwell Fireworks show on July 4th, 1988.
Bob was a plasterer by trade, having learned the generational craft from his grandfather, Francis X Rodgers, his father Francis X Rodgers, Jr, Uncle Robert Rodgers (Master Plasterer) and older brother Patrick Rodgers (Master Plasterer).
He worked as a professional painter for years as well as the Director of Maintenance for a large housing development in Manhattan. Bob’s love of cooking and entertaining brought immense joy to many over the years. He leaves behind his mother-in-law Joann Gambino, brother-in-law Michael (Irene) and sisters-in-law Tracey, Susan and Patricia. He will be missed terribly, and his memory will be held close to our hearts forever.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 30, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY 10509. Mass will be held on Friday, January 31, at 10 a.m., at St. Lawrence O’Toole Catholic Church, 31 Prospect Street, Brewster, NY 10509.
