Richard Allen Rabasco, a longtime resident of Yorktown Heights, passed away on April 17, 2026, at the age of 94.
Mr. Rabasco was born in White Plains, NY, in 1931, to George Rabasco and Anna Rutsky. He graduated White Plains High School in 1949 and went on to serve in the Marines 1949 – 1952, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant; he was also a member of the Engineer School Battalion.
He worked as a Credit and Billing Manager for Reader’s Digest in Pleasantville, NY, until his retirement in 1990.
In 1965, he married the love of his life, Betty Gail Rabasco, at the Town Hall in Yorktown Heights, NY. She preceded him in death in 1987.
Locally, Mr. Rabasco was a Parishioner, Volunteer and Employee of the St. Patrick’s Church. Over many years, Richard worked for the Church as a Bingo Coordinator, Usher, Chef and Sexton. He spent the remainder of his days living at the Country House – he really enjoyed being a part of that wonderful community.
He will be remembered for his over 30 years of contributions to the Reader’s Digest Company. Richard’s duties included systems programming, forecasting performance and working with collection agencies. Later in his career, he became a credit and billing manager for single sales in direct marketing of books and records. Richard, also known as “Pops,” enjoyed bowling, golfing, cooking and entertaining. He was a very generous man, who loved his family and friends. Mostly, Richard will be remembered for his dedication to the parishioners of St. Patrick’s Church and for his service to his country as a Marine.
Richard is survived by his son Michael Rabasco and his wife Michele Madeux Rabasco of Yorktown Heights, his daughter Joanne Rabasco Youngs and her late husband Ronald Youngs of Kingston, NY; his grandchildren Christopher Rabasco and Sarah Rabasco of Yorktown Heights, Skyler Youngs (Bianca Youngs) of Lindenhurst, NY; and his great-grandchild Owen Youngs.
