YORKTOWN, N.Y.—The Repair Cae is returning to Yorktown.
Skillful volunteers will again attempt to fix your broken items at the Yorktown Repair Cafe at Grace Lutheran Church (corner of Curry and Gomer Streets) on Saturday, Jan. 18 between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. This free community service event provides an alternative to our throw-away culture by providing repair options, at no to little cost. Lamps, small appliances, bikes, clocks, textiles, toys, wooden items, ceramics, crockery, jewelry, computers/electronics/technology ... anything that is broken is welcome. This month, organizers are offering free sharpening services for dull knives and scissors, and featuring free tech help for your computers and tech gadgets.
Organizers suggest that people wishing to bring their beloved but broken items from home (limit 2]two items please, no gas-powered items) pre-register to select a time to attend. Go to the Town of Yorktown Community Calendar, yorktownny.gov/calendar, to find the link. You don't have to be a Yorktown resident to take part. The next Mahopac Repair Cafe is scheduled for March 8 at Mahopac Middle School.
