The Putnam County Wine & Music Festival will return to Putnam County Veterans Memorial Park in Carmel on Aug. 22-23, marking its 15th year with an expanded lineup of live entertainment, food, beverage tastings and family activities.
The two-day festival will feature wineries, distilleries and cider producers, along with food vendors, live music, and activities for children. Organizers say several new attractions have been added this year, including a Sunday patty-eating contest sponsored by Caribbean Food Delights of Tappan.
Festival founder Lauren Drummond said the event continues to focus on bringing the community together while introducing new attractions for returning visitors.
"Our festival has always been centered on families and celebrating the many cultures that make our community unique through food, music, arts and community engagement," Drummond said.
Scheduled musical acts include the Mike Risko & Miriam Risko Duo, Cross Purpose Band, Bourbon and Britches Band, Sundad Band, Carrie Zazz Band, DJ Saggi, Gratefully Yours, Simone G, Ricki Eric, and Ras Droppa and Skankin Band.
Families will also find giant lawn games and inflatable attractions provided by SceneSetters NY. Chef Vincent Tropepe is scheduled to present a cooking demonstration, with additional chefs and mixologists expected to be announced before the festival.
Tropepe's nonprofit organization, Hospitality Mental Awareness Initiative USA, has been selected as the festival's featured charity.
Current sponsors include Hudson Valley Wine Magazine, The Peak 107.1 FM, WHUD 100.7 FM, Durants Party Rentals, Mass Artisan, Realm Music Group, Street Hype Newspaper, Caribbean Food Delights, Fox Pest Control and Reggae Vybes.
Advance tasting tickets for adults 21 and older are $20 through July 31 and increase to $25 afterward. The tasting admission includes a commemorative glass and samples of wine, cider and spirits. General admission is $15. Children 12 and younger are admitted free, while admission for ages 13 to 16 is $5. Seniors age 65 and older and military members with valid identification receive 50percent off walk-up ticket purchases.
The festival will be held at Putnam County Veterans Memorial Park, 201 Gipsy Trail Road, Carmel.
