Rain-soaked wins send North Salem soccer squads to section finals

NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - Pelting rain did little to slow the offense as both Tiger soccer teams started their playoff campaigns on Thursday, Oct. 30.

With a pair of dominant — albeit soggy — victories at Tiger Stadium, both squads now advance to the sectional finals on Sunday.

The girls team, entering the tournament as the #2 seed, kicked off the double bill against #3 seed The Leffell School.

After deflecting some early pressure from the Lions, North Salem got on the board courtesy of a header by sophomore Maddie Horel.

From there, it was all Tigers. Fellow sophomore Sienna Paldin, junior Jennifer Killeen, and senior captain Zoe Elias would all find the back of the net for a 4-0 win to send North Salem back to the sectional title game.

The Tigers will meet #1 seed Tuckahoe at Nyack High School on Sunday, Nov. 2, at 1:30 p.m.

Next up, the top seeded boys squad squared off with #4 seed Tuckahoe.

The Tigers kicked off their playoff campaign with an offensive showcase from Sean Randall (2 goals, 2 assists) and Liam Keegan (2 goals, 1 assist).

Aidan Santis, Nico Maya, and Ben Guiliano also scored with Jhon Rodriguez, Orlando Mulaj, and Steven Gamez notching assists.

Anthony Federice and Kyle Li split keeper duties to keep Tuckahoe off the board for the huge 7-0 win.

The Tigers will now face #3 seed Haldane for the section title on Sunday, Nov. 2 at 5 p.m. at Lakeland High School.
