NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - Norton Road in North Salem has been closed after sustaining major damage that left the road impassable, according to the North Salem Highway Department.
Highway crews have shut down Norton Road and are currently working to make repairs. Baxter Road also sustained heavy damage, with repairs nearing completion, the department said.
Other roads affected include Wallace Road, Hunt Lane and Finch Road to the Ridgefield line. Those roads remain passable but require extensive repair work.
The Highway Department is facing the added challenge of having several crew members on vacation this week. The Town of Lewisboro Highway Department is assisting North Salem with manpower as crews work to address the damage.
“We have the situation under control, and we are now hoping for a dry-spell,” the Highway Department said in a social media post.
Motorists are advised to avoid Norton Road until repairs are completed and to use caution on other roads where repair work is ongoing.
