SOMERS, N.Y. - Just because winter’s here, there’s no reason the kiddos have to stay cooped up indoors during the February school break.
Muscoot Farm in Somers is offering a “mini camp” for children in fourth through sixth grades from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning on Tuesday, Feb. 17 and ending on Friday, Feb. 20.
Registration opens at noon on Monday, Jan. 12, for Westchester residents, and at noon on Monday, Jan. 19, for non-residents.
Families may sign up children for one, two, three or all four days. The fee is $75 per day or $250 for the full, four-day program.
The camp connects kids with agriculture and nature during the colder months by providing a bunch of hands-on activities that give them insight into outdoor skills, winter ecology, and life on the farm and in the forest.
“These camps offer kids an exciting alternative to spending much of winter indoors. It gives children a fun reason to stay active outdoors during a season when many spend much of their time inside and provide memorable experiences that make winter days feel special,” said Kathy O’Connor, county commissioner of parks, recreation and conservation.
Muscoot Farm is located at 51 Route 100, Katonah (for GPS purposes).
