Mount Kisco Police Blotter: Officers encounter 'Osama bin Laden'

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. - Westchester County Police had a busy end to the month, including an unusual call involving a man identifying himself as “Osama bin Laden.” 

March 25

Officers responded to a residence on Carpenter Avenue at 2:41 a.m. after a woman called 911 but could only be heard whispering into the phone. Upon arrival, officers encountered a man who identified himself as “Osama bin Laden” and attempted to dissuade officers from entering the apartment or speaking with the caller. After entering the apartment, officers observed damage to a wall, furniture and other items that the female caller said occurred during an argument.  The man was taken into custody, booked at the Green Street precinct, and held for arraignment in Mount Kisco Justice Court. A domestic incident report was prepared.

March 26

A woman called 911 at 10:10 p.m. to report that she and a friend were locked inside a business on North Bedford Road. The caller reported that while she and her friend were using the bathroom employees had locked up and left. As the women attempted to leave through a side door, they triggered the alarm system. Responding officers notified the alarm company to shut the audible alarm off and then cleared and secured the premises.

Officers conducted a welfare check on Moore Avenue at 12:39 p.m. at the request of a man who said he has been trying to several days to contact a friend who lives alone. An officer made contact with the Moore Avenue resident and determined he was fine.

A 34-year-old man was charged with Obstruction of Governmental Administration 2nd Degree, a misdemeanor, and Disorderly Conduct, a violation, in the Blackeby parking lot at 11:50 a.m. The man became aggressive toward officers when they approached him due to indications he was highly intoxicated. He was initially transported by Mount Kisco VAC to Northern Westchester Hospital for a medical evaluation and was then booked at the Green Street precinct. He was released pending an April 10 appearance in Mount Kisco justice Court.

Officers responded to a business on Lexington Avenue at 7:31 a.m. due to activated burglar alarm. The premises were found to be secure. A contractor working in an adjacent space said he may have inadvertently trigged the alarm when he arrived at the building a few minutes earlier.

March 27

An officer responded to a residence on Amuso Drive at 4:59 a.m. to investigate a 911 hang-up call. The resident reported he had dialed the number in error and there was no emergency.

A 37-year-old village resident was charged at 6:17 p.m. with Criminal Contempt 2nd Degree, a misdemeanor, after he went to a Barker Street in violation of a court order barring him the premises. He was booked at the Green Street precinct and released pending a future appearance in Mount Kisco Justice Court.

March 28

An officer on patrol at 12:43 a.m. observed an occupied vehicle the parking lot of an auto dealership on Kisco Avenue. Upon investigation it was determined the man was a security company employee retained by the business for the overnight hours.
