Mount Kisco Police Blotter: DWI arrests, grand larceny at Target

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. - Westchester County Police responded to a variety of calls, including several involving intoxicated drivers and a woman stealing hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise from Target. 

May 11

A Bedford man was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor, following a traffic stop at 1:17 a.m. on East Hyatt Avenue. An officer conducted the traffic stop after observing a vehicle being driven erratically on Main Street. The 23-year-old was booked at the Green Street precinct and released pending a May 15 appearance in Mount Kisco Justice Court.

A 52-year-old woman was injured at 7:59 a.m. when she was struck by a car as she walked on the sidewalk near TJ Maxx on East Main Street. The driver of the car, a 23-year-old Stamford woman, reported that she fell asleep behind the wheel, causing the car to leave the roadway and go on the sidewalk. The victim was taken by Mount Kisco VAC to Westchester Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver, who was on her way to work in Chappaqua, reported getting only four hours of sleep the night before because she had to drive a relative to New Haven airport a few hours earlier. She passed a field sobriety test at the scene.

Staff at a business on South Moger Avenue reported at 3:36 p.m. that a customer was causing a disturbance and that they wanted him removed. The man was told that he had to leave the store and that management had issued a trespass warning. He was advised he was now barred from the premises and would be arrested if he returned.

May 12

Officers responded to a residence on North Moger Avenue at 5:19 a.m. on a report that someone attempted to enter a woman’s apartment. The woman reported that she and her boyfriend heard someone outside her door and locked it to prevent entry.

Officers responded to Northern Westchester Hospital at 8:43 a.m. on a report of a domestic disturbance in a car. A Long Island man reported that he was arguing with his girlfriend as he drove I-684 and she became hysterical and threated to beat him. He exited the highway and followed signs to the hospital because he wanted to get to a public place and call police. After speaking with officers, he declined to press charges and left in his car. The woman remained behind and called an Uber to take her to Yonkers. A Domestic Incident Report was prepared.

A resident came to the Green Street precinct at 10:10 a.m. to report that he had been a victim of fraud. The man said he was contacted by a person claiming to be from his bank and he transferred $1,500 to a Zelle account before realizing it was a scam. The matter remains under investigation.

A restaurant on Lexington Avenue reported at 12:07 p.m. that an apparent burglary had occurred overnight. It appears someone entered through an unsecured door and removed $50 from a cash register.

The owner of a vehicle reported at 2:08 p.m. that her car was damaged by a hit-and-run driver while it was parked on Carpenter Avenue.

May 13

An employee of a social services agency that works with developmentally disabled persons reported at 8:13 a.m. that she had been struck on the arm by a client a few days earlier. The employee said she was not pursuing criminal charges but requested a report to document the incident as required by company policy.

A man suffered a possible broken arm at 10:34 a.m. when he fell from a scooter at Barker Street and Carpenter Avenues. He was taken by Mount Kisco VAC to Northern Westchester Hospital.

May 15

A Bedford man turned himself in at the Green Street precinct at 3:45 p.m. on a warrant charging him with Aggravated DWI. The warrant was issued recently after he failed to appear in Mount Kisco Justice Court to answer the charge.

A 59-year-old woman was charged with Grand Larceny 4th Degree after she attempted to leave Target without paying for several hundred dollars’ worth of merchandise in her possession. She was booked at the Green Street precinct and released pending a future court appearance.

A 43-year-old man surrendered at Mount Kisco Justice Court on seven outstanding warrants charging him with Criminal Trespass, Public Lewdness and Disorderly Conduct. He was booked at the Green Street precinct and returned to court, where he was released pending a future court appearance.

May 16

Report received at 2:16 p.m. that a man was trying the door handles of cars in a commercial lot on North Bedford Road to see if any of the vehicles were open. The person who reported the matter was gone upon an officer’s arrival. The officer canvassed the lot but did not observe any suspicious activity. The business was checked for security video but it could not be accessed by the employee who was working.
