Born on April 15, 1943, in Brooklyn, NY to her late loving parents, Charles and Catherine, MaryAnn grew to become a woman of remarkable talents and boundless generosity, touching the lives of all who knew her.
MaryAnn's life was a testament to the power of nurturing and supporting others. As an Art Teacher and co-founder of The Big Top Nursery School in Somers, NY, MaryAnn helped lay the foundation for countless young minds. Her professional journey also saw her excel as a real estate agent, a salesperson for home decor and furnishings, and as a gifted interior designer, where her creative vision helped transform spaces into warm, inviting homes.
MaryAnn was a graduate of Saint Agnes Academy in Queens, NY, and the New York School of Interior Design. These institutions not only furnished her with knowledge but also with a spirit of inquiry and a love for aesthetics that she carried throughout her life.
MaryAnn's Roman Catholic faith was a cornerstone of her life, illuminated her path, and guided her actions with compassion and humility. Her involvement with the Somers Historical Society, particularly her cherished role on the Board of Trustees and on the Collections Committee, was a reflection of her commitment to preserving the history of her community. Her efforts were recognized when she was honored with The Old Bet Award in 2015, a distinction she accepted with her characteristic grace and gratitude.
Art was MaryAnn's language of love, and she spoke it fluently through her active membership in the Northern Westchester Watercolor Society. As a dedicated member, MaryAnn found joy in showcasing the creations of fellow artists and took great pleasure in group and plein-air painting, capturing the beauty of nature with each stroke of her brush. MaryAnn delighted in helping set up Art Shows for her and her fellow artists' work, and loved connecting with other artists and art lovers/collectors at the Shows.
MaryAnn's membership with the North Star Quilters Guild inspired her to create beautiful sewing projects and quilts, a tapestry of her life's journey. Each and every piece MaryAnn created, is woven with the threads of her heart, each stitch a testament to her passion for life and her love for her family.
MaryAnn's family was the centerpiece of her world. The cherished wife of Denis Andrew Healy for 57 years, she was a devoted mother to Denis Anthony (Sue) Healy, Christine( Chris) Waldeck, Paul Healy, and David (Carey) Healy. Her grandchildren—Aliajah, Alexis, Isabel, Christopher, and Micaela—basked in her adoration and unwavering support. MaryAnn adored spending time with her siblings, Teresa (the late Lou) Crandall, Peter (the late Linda) Mastropaolo, and Charles (Jennifer) Mastropaolo, where gatherings with them always included delicious food, lots of laughter, and lots of Love. MaryAnn was also very blessed with many wonderful Sisters/ Brothers In-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
MaryAnn's ability to turn the mundane into magic, like her love for cooking and transforming grocery shopping into an adventure, made every day with her a celebration.
Described by those who knew her as loving, creative, and selfless, MaryAnn lived her life as a testament to the virtues she held dear. Her legacy is one of love, a love that overflowed and enriched the lives of all who had the privilege to be part of her world.
