Dolly passed away peacefully at the age of 94, surrounded by her loving family, on Sept. 2, 2026. She is survived by her five children: Kathy Brunckhorst (Keith), Donald Heady (Cheryl), Robert Heady (Cathy), Brenda Simmons (Craig), and Barbara Call (Doug). She was blessed with 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
She was the beloved daughter of Charles and Anna Stottlar and a loyal sister to Charles and James. Dolly was a devoted wife to Donald and a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Her family meant the world to her, and she found great joy in the time they shared together.
Dolly grew up in Peekskill, New York, and graduated from Peekskill High School in 1950. After graduation, she worked as a bookkeeper for the New York Central Railroad. She married Donald in 1951 and settled in Shrub Oak, where she made her home for 73 years. She cared deeply for her community and took pride in helping preserve the character of the hamlet she loved.
After raising her family, Dolly returned to work and served for many years as the general manager of Fire Glow Distributors in Jefferson Valley. In retirement, she enjoyed traveling the country, tending to her beautiful garden, and decorating her home for every holiday. Her home was always open, and everyone who entered was made to feel welcome.
Dolly touched many lives with her warmth, generosity, and love. Hers was a life well lived, filled with family, friendship, and cherished memories. She was deeply loved and will be truly missed.
