Man dies from injuries after Mahopac construction site accident

MAHOPAC, N.Y. - A Pawling man was killed during a construction site accident on Baldwin Place Road in Mahopac on Wednesday morning (April 30).

Carmel Police said they responded to a 911 call at around 9:30 a.m. on a report of a workplace accident with injuries.

Arriving officers, along with the Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department and EMS units, Carmel Ambulance, and the County Bureau of Emergency Services, reported that an excavator working at the construction site at 6 Baldwin Place Road (near the intersection with Route 6) had overturned, partially ejecting and entrapping the operator. The 49-year-old male worker, a resident of Pawling, was pronounced dead by Putnam County paramedics at the scene.

Police said the investigation is still active and the names of those involved are not being released pending family notification. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
