SOMERS, N.Y. - A domestic incident in Somers left one person with multiple stab wounds and another with self-inflicted injuries, state police reported on Wednesday, Dec. 11.
Charged in the attack, which took place on Thursday, Dec. 5 at a home near the hamlet of Croton Falls in North Salem, is Andujar Heriberto, 50, police said.
The victim was hospitalized in stable condition. Heriberto was taken to the hospital with self-inflicted stab wounds, police said.
Screams could be held from inside the residence when the first trooper arrived on the scene. He forced his way inside and found the suspect, who was wielding a screwdriver and refusing to comply with the officer’s commands, police said.
Heriberto then attacked the trooper but was subdued, police said.
The trooper was not injured.
When additional officers arrived, they had to use a taser to fully restrain him.
Heriberto was arraigned on Saturday, Dec. 7 in Somers Town Court before Judge Michael J. McDermott on charges of Assault in the 1st degree, a class B felony; Assault in the 2nd degree, a class D felony; and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th degree; Resisting Arrest; and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, all class A misdemeanors.
He was taken to the Westchester County Jail without bail pending a future court appearance.
