Three Mahopac High School students will be recognized for their commitment to community service when the Putnam County Youth Bureau and Putnam County Youth Board host their 41st annual Youth Awards Dinner next month.
Kevin Behrendt, Isabella DeRosa and Chloe Lex, all students at Mahopac High, are among 15 high school students from across Putnam County who will be honored for outstanding volunteer service.
The students will be recognized during the Youth Awards Dinner on April 9 at the Putnam County Golf Course in Mahopac.
County Executive Kevin Byrne praised the honorees for their dedication to helping others.
“These young people are true examples of what makes Putnam County such a special place,” Byrne said. “Their selflessness, leadership and commitment to service embody the best of our community. We are proud to celebrate their efforts and recognize the positive impact they have on so many lives.”
The annual awards program recognizes students who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and a strong commitment to volunteerism in their schools and communities. Officials with the Youth Bureau said the honorees represent a wide range of service activities, from assisting local nonprofits to participating in school and community initiatives.
In addition to the student awards, the Youth Bureau will present the James F. Reitz Adult Award to Lauren Johnson, Virginia Redlon and Wayne Ryder for their support of youth programs and volunteer efforts throughout the county.
Other students being honored this year include Alexander Romero and Samantha Sanchez Gil of Brewster High School; Sean Kmiotek of Carmel High School; Polina Buslovich, Christine Junjulas, Corinna Mueller, Leo O'Neil and Maxwell Sanders of Haldane High School; Carleigh Effinger, Liam Mortimer and Jake Vanga of John F. Kennedy Catholic Preparatory School; and Jacob Lasch of Putnam Valley High School.
The community is invited to attend the event. Reservations are required by March 27. Tickets cost $50 and can be reserved by contacting the Putnam County Youth Bureau at 845-808-1600, ext. 46113, or by emailing christine.andrews@putnamcountyny.gov.
