The local community has found many ways to celebrate our nation’s 250th birthday, including this remarkable crocheted American flag. The afghan was handcrafted by Modesta “Candy” Castro (pictured) and raffled off at the Senior Citizens of the Mahopacs’ Flag Day celebration.
“It’s a reminder that the flag stands for patriotism, not political affiliation,” said the group’s president, Donna Proft.
