Dear Editor,
The League of Women Voters debate made one thing clear: experience matters, and Luciana Haughwout has it.
While others stumbled through talking points or searched for answers, Councilwoman Haughwout spoke with the confidence, compassion and clarity of someone who truly understands Yorktown — because she lives it every single day.
As both a mother and a public servant, Haughwout embodies the blend of community and competence that defines strong local government.
Her leadership style isn’t about politics — it’s about people.
From our schools and parks to our small businesses and senior programs, she’s rolled up her sleeves and made a tangible difference.
In just one term, Councilwoman Haughwout has helped modernize outdated town codes that for years put Yorktown behind its neighbors.
She championed raising recreation fees so developers pay their fair share — a move that now brings in more funding for playgrounds, athletic fields and family-centered spaces.
And she’s helped ensure that Yorktown’s growth remains smart and balanced — revitalizing our downtown while preserving our open space and small-town character.
Haughwout has also been a consistent voice for public safety, transparency and fiscal responsibility.
She supports collaboration with our police, fire, and EMS departments to make sure Yorktown remains one of the safest towns in Westchester County.
And she’s helped strengthen financial accountability, keeping taxes stable while investing in infrastructure and community improvements.
This election, Yorktown has a clear choice.
We can trust experience, compassion, and a proven record — or gamble on candidates still finding their way.
Luciana Haughwout doesn’t need a learning curve. She’s already leading, already delivering, and already making Yorktown stronger.
Vote Luciana Haughwout for Yorktown Town Board.
Because Yorktown deserves leadership with both heart and know-how.
Sincerely,
-Kerry Farrell, Yorktown
