SOUTH SALEM, N.Y. - The Lewisboro Library is set to offer an exciting slate of programs for the community in March.

2025 Lewisboro Community Volunteer Fair

The Annual “Lewisboro Community Volunteer Fair” returns to the Lewisboro Library on Saturday, March 1, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Fair matches would-be volunteers with local organizations in need of help. It is a great way to find out about all the volunteer opportunities in our area! Please take the time to stop by and speak with representatives of local groups who will have tables at the Library with information on their services and volunteer needs.

There are volunteer opportunities for adults AND teens. The Fair is the perfect way for newcomers to discover what the town has to offer, for retirees to put their skills to work in volunteer positions and for families to teach the importance of giving back to others. It is also a good opportunity for High School Seniors to scout out potential senior internships.

Two Author Talks in March

The Library is offering two opportunities to hear local authors in March. On Sunday, March 16 at 3 p.m, Michael Garber is doing a presentation based on his new book “Songs She Wrote: Forty Hits by Pioneering Women of Popular Music.” In “Songs She Wrote,” Garber celebrates women’s contributions to popular music by looking at dozens of well-known figures like Billie Holiday, Peggy Lee, and Dorothy Parker as well as unearthing more unknown women who made major contributions. Women in the popular music business went through struggles different from their male colleagues, making their triumphs all the more impressive. Their sagas combine to convey an epic tale about women songwriters in the world of American popular music.

On Sunday, March 23 at 3 pm, the Library welcomes back New York Times bestselling author Fiona Davis, to talk about her latest novel, “The Stolen Queen.” For nearly a decade, Davis has introduced readers to the fascinating and often little-known histories behind some of New York City’s most iconic landmarks through the eyes of female characters living or working at the buildings. In her enthralling new novel, “The Stolen Queen,” she delights readers with a story centered on the Metropolitan Museum of Art and its famed Met Gala, while for the first time, exploring a territory beyond New York City – Egypt’s Valley of the Kings. The novel alternates between Egypt in 1936 and New York City in 1978, as two women from different generations are thrown together after a Met Gala goes horribly wrong.

Please register for these programs via the Library website.

Putting the “FUN” in Fundraisers

The Lewisboro Library puts the “Fun” in fundraisers by hosting concerts, off-site Trivia Nights and theatrical experiences to bring the community together while raising funds for the Library.

A new series of “Trivia Nights” will take place at the Horse and Hound on Thursdays March 13, April 10 and May 15, with a start time of 7 p.m. Questions will cover a range of topics including general knowledge, pop culture, history, music, and more. A great way to gather with your neighbors, win prizes, and compete for the title of Lewisboro Library Trivia Champions! Reserved seats are $25 per player per Trivia Night, and can be purchased in person at the Library or online via the Library website. A reduced Pub Menu and cash bar will also be available.

Live theater returns to the Library stage with a reading of “Beyond Therapy” on Friday, March 21 at 7:30 pm! Come enjoy the explosive comic brilliance of Christopher Durang in his hilarious, off-the-wall satire of modern therapy. It tells the story of two neurotic urbanites searching for love and sanity – with the questionable help of their offbeat therapists. Reserved seating is $45 per person. Wine, beer and light bites are included. Paid reservations can be made in person at the Library or online via the Library website. Presented by Katonah Classic Stage, "Beyond Therapy” features Broadway veterans and great local talent in a tour de force reading of one of Durang’s most popular comedies.

Defensive Driving Course on March 22

The Library is hosting a “Defensive Driving” course on Saturday, March 22, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Completion of the course results in a ten percent liability insurance discount to the principal operator as well as a maximum of four points off the driver’s violation record. Please register via the Library website and then pay in person at the Library by March 15 to hold your reservation. The fee is $45; seniors age 65 and over pay $35. Check should be made payable to John Coxen.
