SOUTH SALEM, N.Y. - The Lewisboro Library has announced an exciting lineup of events as they get set to celebrate National Library Week.
“The Reluctant Dragon” for Families on April 5
April’s “Family Fun Saturday” at the Lewisboro Library will be a performance of “The Reluctant Dragon” on April 5 at 10:30 a.m. The story, about a young village boy who discovers a dragon in the mountains, is brought to life by the Lionheart Puppet Company and is suitable for families with children ages four and up.
Fun for the whole family, the show features hand and rod puppetry, as well as original music. A demonstration and Q & A session will follow the performance. Please register via the Library website.
Community Partners Help Celebrate National Library Week
The Library is teaming up with some community partners to provide programs for the community during National Library Week (April 6 – April 12). On Sunday, April 6 at 4 p.m., there will be an “Author Talk with Fr. Frank Hakoola.” Fr. Frank is a Priest in Charge of St. Johns’ Episcopal Church in South Salem and St. Paul’s Chapel in Vista since 2023. He recently wrote Unwrapping the Greatest of Human Resources, a book which explores the nature and value of Spirituality to every human being.
On Monday, April 7 at 7 p.m., the Library is hosting another “Citizen Preparedness Training” workshop. This one-hour program, led by members of the National Guard, will go over the steps needed to take to prepare for an emergency. Participants will be advised on how to properly prepare for any natural or man-made disaster, including developing a family emergency plan and stocking up on emergency supplies. Each family that attends will receive one Preparedness backpack, filled with supplies.
Learn “How to Design a Kitchen Garden” at the Library on Thursday, April 10 at 7 p.m. This presentation, sponsored by the Lewisboro Garden Club, will be led by Mary Buri, of local business Mars Kitchen Garden. If you’re thinking of installing a garden or have plans to renovate an existing one, be sure to join this program that will cover the fundamentals of design.
