Lewisboro Library Fair returns on Sept. 20

SOUTH SALEM, N.Y. - The annual Lewisboro Library Fair returns this weekend, taking place rain or shine on Saturday, Sept. 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Onatru Farm Park at 99 Elmwood Road in South Salem. 

The Library Fair is one of the largest community events in Lewisboro, with lots of activities for all ages. Enjoy the Concours Car Show, refreshment garden, dunk tank, contests for gardeners and bakers, food trucks and booths, music, and tons of shopping at the Book Sale, Attic Treasures Sale, Silent Auction and Vendor Market.

There is also a “Kids Zone” with multiple activities for the little ones, such as a Bouncy House, crafts, games, performers and more. Kids can get an All Access Bracelet for $10 to play in the “Kids Zone” all day. In addition, the Lewisboro Garden Club will lead a Fairy Garden craft, with a $15 fee for each garden. (Or pay $20 for both the Fairy Garden and an All Access Kid’s Zone Bracelet).

Lewisboro Library Fair VIP Tickets are available again this year. A VIP ticket grants early access to Attic Treasures the night of Sept. 18 and morning of Sept. 19 for up to two people, one priority parking spot on fair day, two raffle tickets, two beer/wine tickets and two free book vouchers. VIP tickets are on sale now for $75. Tickets can be purchased online through the library website, or in person at the library. They will not be available for sale on fair day.

Start your shopping early with the fair pre-sales! On Wednesday, Sept. 17 from 5 to 9 p.m., there will be a book pre-sale for Lewisboro residents only, with free admission. The book pre-sale continues Thursday, Sept. 18 from 5 to 9 p.m., with free admission for residents and a $25 entry fee for non-residents. On Friday, Sept. 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the book pre-sale has free admission for all.

On Thursday, Sept. 18, from 5 to 9 p.m., VIP ticket holders ONLY will be able to shop all of Attic Treasures. Non-VIP ticket holders can shop the sporting goods area only. There is also an opportunity to shop Attic Treasures early on Friday, Sept. 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a $25 admission fee at the door. (VIP ticket holders can shop for free.) There will be an after-sale of Book and Attic Treasures bargains on Sunday, Sept. 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Concours Car Show features a wide range of vehicles from show cars to weekend cruisers. Awards are given in ten categories, courtesy of sponsor BMW of Ridgefield. The first 40 attendees receive dash plates and all cars are roped off. There is no entrance fee, but space is limited. The Silent Auction features gift cards and items from local restaurants and businesses. There are also “experiences” to bid on including; four tickets to a NY Giants football game, free passes to the Brooklyn “Beat the Bomb” venue, jump passes for SkyZone in Mount Kisco, a family membership to the Bedford Playhouse, a foursome of golf at the Waccabuc Country Club, a one-year Explore membership to MOMA, four tickets to a Yankees game, plus much more.

There will be plenty of food, so fair-goers won’t go hungry! Bring your appetite, the food truck lineup has something sure to satisfy every craving. Take a break at the Refreshment Garden and enjoy some beer, wine and soft drinks. Stop by the Bake Sale tent for fresh homemade baked goods. The Bake Sale tent is seeking donations of individually wrapped treats, gluten free items or whole cakes to help make the event a success. Baked goods can be dropped at the Bake Sale tent after 9 a.m. on fair day. Please let the organizers know what you’ll be baking by signing up on the website.

Are you competitive about your food? The Fair has contests for gardeners and bakers! The Wild, Weird & Wonderful Produce Contest is seeking the best – biggest -smallest - or oddest - produce or flower that grew in your garden this summer. The Battle of the Bakers returns this year with competitions in two categories. Kids Category: bakers under 12 years of age can enter their best Chocolate Chip cookie, simple or fancy. The cookies must be home-baked, with no help from Mom or Dad, and be submitted along with an ingredient list. Adult Category: enter your best original Fruit Pie. Pies must be home-baked, not require refrigeration and be submitted along with an ingredient list. Entries for both the Produce and Battle of the Bakers contest should be brought to the “Produce/Baking Contests” tent by noon on Fair Day.
