WHITE PLAINS N.Y. —Democrat Ken Jenkins has been re-elected Westchester County Executive, defeating Republican Christine Sculti in a rematch of February’s special election. Jenkins will continue leading the county for a full term following his completion of George Latimer’s unexpired term.

As of 10:35 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5, Jenkins held 66 percent of the vote, with 87,336 votes to Sculti’s 44,934, or 34 percent, according to unofficial results. These totals do not reflect early voting numbers.

“Tonight we proved once again that competent, stable leadership beats chaos and drama every time,” Jenkins said following his victory Tuesday night in White Plains, adding that in Washington, D.C., “dysfunction and division have dominated,” but said, “it doesn’t happen here in Westchester.”

Sculti's media person shared a statement with Halston Media recounting her conversation with Jenkins:

“Christine called Ken Jenkins to congratulate him on his win and he was gracious in victory. Christine thanks all of her supporters and is grateful to everyone who honored her with their vote.”

Jenkins previously won the special election by a margin of 60,020 to 34,175 votes, after Latimer stepped down to become the 16th district’s Congressional representative.

He said his priorities include making Westchester more affordable for county residents by reducing the cost of living, boosting affordable housing and childcare, removing guns from the streets, investing in safer communities, addressing the opioid crisis, improving infrastructure to help prevent flooding, and protecting the environment.

Before Election Day, Halston Media offered both candidates the opportunity to address voters and explain their qualifications and top priorities in their own words. To read their responses, click here.
