Joseph F. Loscri, known lovingly as Joe, passed away on April 7, 2026, in New York, New York, at the age of 78 after a courageous battle with leukemia.
Joe was born on January 5, 1948, in Reggio Calabria, Italy, and was naturalized as a citizen of the United States of America in 1968. He was the beloved husband of Karen Loscri and a devoted father to his daughters, Christine Loscri (Alberto Mancusi) and Nicole Loscri (Daniel Mazin). He was also a cherished son of Angela Loscri and was predeceased by his father, Rocco Loscri. Joe was a loving brother to Renato Loscri (Lisa Nero), Theresa Zerrle (Peter Zerrle), Giselda Ryan (Donald Ryan), and the late Anthony Loscri. He was the beloved brother-in-law to Theodore and Karol Pernicano, and Joseph Dente. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law Andrea Dente. He was a loving Uncle to many nieces and nephews too! He has a beloved Grand-Dog named Howie and two Grand-bunnies named Clover and Bluey. His family was the center of his life, and he treasured every moment spent with those he loved.
Joe built a life marked by dedication, integrity, and steady commitment. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from Indiana Northern University, Class of 1971, where he was recognized on the Dean’s List. His education reflected the discipline and determination that would guide him throughout his career. Joe went on to serve in Westchester County Accounting and Finance Departments and the Department of Social Services for 32 years, where he was respected for his professionalism, reliability, and thoughtful approach to his work. His colleagues knew him as someone who could be counted on, and his extensive career stood as a testament to his work ethic and character.
He was known by those who loved him as a loving, funny, and kind man whose presence brought comfort and joy. He had a gift for making others feel welcome and at ease, and his sense of humor could brighten even the most ordinary day. Joe’s kindness was genuine, and his love for his family and friends was expressed in both quiet and meaningful ways.
In his free time, Joe found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. He loved nature, especially bird watching, and took great enjoyment in planting flowers and watching things grow. He also enjoyed cooking, painting, and predicting the weather, pastimes that reflected his curiosity, creativity, and appreciation for the world around him. These interests brought him peace and satisfaction, and they were among the many ways he shared his personality with those closest to him.
Joe will be remembered for the love he gave, the laughter he inspired, and the steady example he set for his family and all who knew him. His life was one of devotion, hard work, and warmth.
