Mirchandani secures independent ballot line in Yorktown supervisor race

Posted

Democratic Yorktown supervisor candidate Jann Mirchandani will also appear on the November ballot on the independent Community First line after submitting enough valid signatures to qualify, her campaign announced.

The campaign said Tuesday the Westchester County Board of Elections dismissed challenges to Mirchandani's independent nominating petitions, allowing her to remain on the ballot under the Community First line.

In addition to the independent ballot line, Mirchandani announced endorsements from the Westchester-Putnam Central Labor Body, an affiliate of the AFL-CIO, Eleanor's Legacy and Patriot PAC.

Mirchandani previously secured the endorsement of the Yorktown Democratic Committee and is challenging Republican incumbent Supervisor Ed Lachterman in the Nov. 3 general election. The supervisor's office is typically a two-year term, but the November 2025 election filled the position for one year as the town aligned its election cycle with new state requirements.

“This news, as well as the endorsements that we are rolling out today, demonstrate what we are feeling here on the ground; that people are ready for new, independent leadership that will focus on good governance and always put the people of Yorktown first,” Mirchandani said in a statement. “I look forward to meeting with, and earning the support of, more Yorktown residents over the next few months.”

A Yorktown resident for more than 20 years, Mirchandani owns Westchester Marketing Cafe and previously worked in the financial services industry. This marks her fourth campaign for Yorktown supervisor. She previously ran against former Supervisor Tom Diana in November 2023 and in a special April 2024 election following Diana's death, before facing Lachterman in the November 2025 election.

Mirchandani has more than 35 years of experience serving on nonprofit boards focused on youth leadership, education and business development. She currently serves as vice chair of operations for the Greater Hudson Valley Council of the Boy Scouts of America and is a member of the Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce and the Business Council of Westchester.

She and her husband, Rajesh, have lived in Yorktown for 20 years. They have two adult children who graduated from Yorktown High School.
