YORKTOWN, N.Y. —Highway Superintendent Dave Paganelli is proposing the addition of a four-way stop at the intersection of Underhill and Hanover. It would create two stop signs on Hanover Street, which Paganelli said at the Town Board’s Jan. 14 work session, noting that the signs are needed because there have been several “bad accidents” at that location.
Paganelli also mentioned that the Highway Department is conducting an active traffic study and enforcement at several other intersections of concern. Among these is the intersection at London and Quinlan Streets, where he said active enforcement and further study are underway because “that too is a problematic intersection.”
He emphasized that “stop signs are not meant to control speed.”
The town’s attorney will write up the local laws, and then Town Clerk Diana Quast said then the public hearing will likely be put on the agenda for the board meeting on Feb. 4.
