SOMERS, N.Y. - Eight people were arrested Monday evening after they were allegedly found trespassing on the former IBM property in Somers.
According to New York State Police, troopers from the Somers barracks responded to the site at approximately 8:20 p.m. on June 15 following a report of individuals on the property.
Upon arrival, police located eight people and took them into custody. All were charged with third-degree criminal trespass, a Class B misdemeanor.
Those charged were identified as Jacob Fernando Enrique, 20, of Ossining; Brandon S. Alevalo, 19, of Ossining; Brittany G. Guallpa, 19, of Ossining; Brian Morales, 19, of Ossining; an 18-year-old male from Ossining; an 18-year-old male from Verplanck; an 18-year-old male from Montrose; and an 18-year-old female from Ossining.
The eight individuals were transported to the State Police barracks in Somers for processing. They were issued appearance tickets and are scheduled to appear in Somers Town Court on July 6 at 5:30 p.m.
State Police said the arrests are part of an ongoing effort to address trespassing at the vacant IBM campus. Since February, 42 people have been arrested for trespassing on the property, according to authorities.
Police continue to warn the public to stay off the site, citing safety concerns and the potential for injury. State Police said their priority is to protect public safety, enforce the law, and prevent avoidable accidents and tragedies.
