Public hearing set for Aug. 31

Posted

The Bedford Central School District will hold a public hearing on its updated District-Wide Safety & Emergency Management Plan during its regular Board of Education meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31, in the Suzanne Grant Theater at Fox Lane Middle School.

Public comment, which began July 27, will remain open through Aug. 26.

In the plan document, district officials note that emergency management is a “continuous process by which our staff, students, administrators, parents, school groups, emergency responders and our community manages hazards in an effort to avoid or mitigate the impact of disasters resulting from hazards.”

The plan covers building security and visitor controls, threat reporting and assessment, violence prevention, staff training, emergency drills, lockdowns, evacuations, severe weather and other crisis responses, communications with families, communicable-disease procedures, emergency mental-health support and cardiac-arrest preparedness.
