Two College Point women were arrested May 14 on active warrants connected to an August 2025 shoplifting case at a Yorktown CVS, according to the Yorktown Police Department.
Police said Melanie Ortiz, 23, and Thifany Lopez, 32, both of College Point, were charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a class E felony.
According to police, officers responded Aug. 25, 2025, to CVS on Commerce Street in Yorktown for a reported larceny. Investigators alleged that three women stole feminine and cosmetic merchandise valued at $1,562.88.
Police said officers identified Ortiz and Lopez as two of the suspects and arrest warrants were issued.
The two women turned themselves in at Yorktown Police Department headquarters on May 14, where they were arrested and the warrants were executed, police said.
Following processing, both women were arraigned in Yorktown Justice Court.
Ortiz was released on her own recognizance and is scheduled to appear on July 2 in Yorktown Justice Court.
Lopez was turned over to the Peekskill Police Department on an active warrant and is scheduled to appear at 6 p.m. on June 4 in Yorktown Justice Court.
