Christmas at Croton Falls Community Church

Posted

The Croton Falls Community Church ushers in the holiday season with a full slate of festive events that celebrate tradition, music, and community. For the third consecutive year, the church will host its Moravian Putz presentations nightly from December 19 through 24 at 7 p.m. This 20-minute multimedia experience showcases hand-carved 18-inch nativity figures from Oberammergau, Germany, accompanied by traditional Christmas carols, offering visitors a unique glimpse into Moravian heritage.

A highlight of the season is the church’s special Christmas program, “Christmas in the City,” on Saturday, December 20. The evening begins with supper at 4.30 p.m., followed by a Chalk Talk by Lancaster, PA artist Elva Hurst at 6 p.m., who will explore the history of Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer. The Putz presentation follows at 7 p.m.

Christmas Eve at Croton Falls promises inspiring worship with services at 8 p.m. and 11 p.m., featuring the English Bell Choir, Moravian Beeswax Candles, Lessons & Carols, and a sermon by Pastor Timothy Wagner, celebrating his 33rd year of spiritual leadership. His sermon will feature “The Empty Stocking” from the movie The Bishop’s Wife. The 8 p.m. service concludes with a bonfire and hot chocolate.

New this year, the congregation has initiated a restoration effort for the historic Cross River 1791 Baptist Meeting House, led by Deacon Billy Bowen. A 4 p.m. Christmas Eve service will take place there, as the church works to repair the roof, clean and paint the building, and upgrade electrical systems.

Croton Falls Community Church welcomes all to experience the warmth and spirit of Christmas through music, storytelling, service, and community involvement.
