YORKTOWN, N.Y.—A number of Yorktown college students earned academic accolades from their respective institutions of higher learning last fall. Here is a sampling, courtesy of Merit Pages News from our Jan. 30 and Feb. 6, 2025 editions.

Clarkson University: Yorktown Heights resident Kaitlinn Campana earned distinction as a Clarkson presidential scholar last fall, while fellow Yorktowner John Philip Vespucci was named to the school’s fall semester dean’s list.
Dean College: Jason Wilson of Yorktown Heights has earned a place on the dean’s list for the fall 2024 semester.
East Stroudsburg University: Chelsea Santiago was named to the fall 2024 dean’s list.
Hofstra University: Olivia Howard of Yorktown Heights achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA during the fall 2024 semester, earning a spot on the provost’s list. Michael Matusiak of Shrub Oak and Yorktown Heights residents Joseph Granitto and Esther-Anne Villamin made Hofstra’s dean’s list.
Lasell University: Shelby Palazzetti and Bubba Baumeister were named to the fall 2024 dean’s list.
Nazareth University: Brendan Regan of Yorktown Heights earned a spot on the fall 2024 dean’s list.
The Ohio State University: OSU’s fall 2024 dean’s list includes Yorktown residents Abby Passarella—a senior set to graduate magna cum laude this spring—Ali Passarella (a freshman), Cindy Pennella, and Ashley Vukaj.
Roger Williams University: Cori Hickey of Mohegan Lake and Yorktown Heights residents Shannon Appelle, Angie Garippa, and Christina Zapata made the fall 2024 dean’s list.
Southern New Hampshire University: Fall 2024 president’s list included Vincent Zingone of Mohegan Lake and Yorktown Heights residents Jonathan Daniels and Anthony Merlini.
Stonehill College: Gabriella Parisi and Olivia Lucas of Yorktown Heights were named to the dean’s list.
SUNY Canton: Erik D. Hanson of Yorktown Heights earned president’s list honors during the fall 2024 semester, while fellow Yorktown resident Karla Merchan earned a place on the dean’s list.
SUNY Cortland: Jack Baker of Yorktown was named to the dean’s list for the fall of 2024.
SUNY New Paltz: Fall 2024 dean’s list included Talha Ahmed, Elias Gonzalez, and Steven Macaluso of Jefferson Valley; Erin Coyne, Claire Ducey, Alana Gonzalez, Leara Morales, Taarav Patel, and Lauren Valenzo of Mohegan Lake; Alexander Gorzula and Chloe Rice of Shrub Oak, and Yorktown Heights residents Lexus Bigelow, Adam Cichetti, Sophie Cleary, Sophia DiFrancia, Mimi Feder, Lily Graber, Kailyn-Elizabeth Graham, Athena Holman, Basil Kuriakose, Sophia Maltzman, Gage Miranda, Robert Mitchell, Angelica Salinas, Karina Scalisi, Zoe Ulbrich, David Wilsea, and Christopher Zippelli.
SUNY Oneonta: Shane Power of Yorktown Heights earned an MS in education after completing Oneonta’s Special Education: Childhood Education graduate program. Abigail Vesperman was named to Oneonta’s fall 2024 provost’s list. Oneonta’s dean’s list included Gabrielle Alfinito, Steven Dedvukaj, Ava Picardi, and Jacqueline Quaile of Mohegan Lake, and Yorktown Heights residents Jenna Argyros, Aidan Boyle, Nick Burton, Kayla Foss, Nick Jacoby, Danny Jennings, Lyrica McIntyre, Antonio Sanabria, Taylor Teachout, Lindsey Townes, and Caitlin Wisker.
SUNY Potsdam: George Whalen of Yorktown Heights was named to the president’s list.
University at Buffalo: Dean’s list honorees included Paul Torres of Mohegan Lake and Taran Chana, Basil Thomas, and Sophia Vessecchia of Yorktown Heights.
Worcester Polytechnic Institute: Jared Crane of Yorktown Heights was a member of a student team that recently completed a professional-level research-driven project titled “Obstructive Sleep Apnea: Treatment and Barriers.”

Bucknell University: Michael Lendener of Shrub Oak and Peter Spallone and Nick Wiebke of Yorktown Heights made the fall 2024 dean’s list.
Clarkson University: Kaitlinn Campana of Yorktown Heights was named a Presidential Scholar for the fall 2024 semester
College of New Jersey: Jillian Cohen of Yorktown Heights earned a place on the dean’s list.
Hobart and William Smith Colleges: Abbie Ellison of Yorktown Heights was named to the dean’s list for the fall of 2024; she earned the same honor in 2022 and 2023.
Mississippi State University: Alison Ho of Mohegan Lake and Annaliese Matteo of Yorktown Heights make MSU’s fall 2024 dean’s list.
Northeastern University: Sarah Pinkowsky of Yorktown Heights was named to the fall 2024 dean’s list.
Plymouth State University: Mason Phillips and Connor Phillips earned a place on Plymouth State’s president’s list, while Christine Aery made the dean’s list. All are from Yorktown Heights.
Quinnipiac University: Fall 2024 dean’s list honorees include Shrub Oak residents Isabella Sommovigo and Sophia Sommovigo (with honors) and Yorktown Heights residents Matthew Alduino, Cameron Baker, Natalie Brady, Vincent D’Errico, Troy Diaz, Chloe Jaykus, Frank Keller, Gianna Keller, Grace Morris, Nicholas Shalhoub, and Mark Sinishtaj.
Springfield College: Fall 2024 dean’s list honorees include Samantha Kayo of Mohegan Lake and Vincent Cappelli and Vincent Scialdone of Yorktown Heights.
Stonehill College: Gabriella Parisi and Olivia Lucas, both of Yorktown Heights, made the dean’s list last fall.
SUNY Cortland: Hayley Teachout of Yorktown Heights was recently elected to membership in the honor society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society.
University of Alabama: Kirsten Schmutzer made UA’s president’s list, while Gia Carenza and Tiana Carenza earned a place on the dean’s list. All hail from Yorktown Heights.
University of Rhode Island: The fall 2024 dean’s list included Luke Cahill of Mohegan Lake and Robert Cermele, Nick D’Errico, Carly McGirr, Lily Meisterich, Julia Spina, and Scott White of Yorktown Heights.
University of Scranton: Maggie K. Appelle, James P. Brennan, Linda K. Daly, Carolina Dominguez, Matthew P. Hirsch, and Donovan W. Smith, all of Yorktown Heights, made the fall 2024 dean’s list.
University of Wisconsin-Madison: Dennis Persico and Isabella Raffa earned recognition on the dean’s honor list, while Naomi Gibson, Christopher Lin, and Hannah McGovern made the dean’s list. All are from Yorktown Heights.
Villanova University: David Pinkowsky of Yorktown Heights earned a spot on the fall 2024 dean’s list.
