The Town Board, acting as Commissioners of the Police Department, promoted Sgt. Sandy Crecco to the position of detective sergeant during its March 11 meeting.
Crecco is a patrol sergeant with the Carmel PD, which he joined in 2016. He began his career in law enforcement in 2015 with the NYPD.
Police Chief Anthony Hoffmann said Crecco served as the department’s D.A.R.E. officer, youth officer, and the liaison to the county's Youth Court.
“In 2021, he was promoted to sergeant and took over the community relations team,” Hoffmann told the board. “He is also the supervisor of the marine unit, which keeps him busy in the summertime. And he is the team leader of our hostage negotiation team for our Emergency Response Team.”
Hoffmann said Crecco has shown excellent leadership and “it’s really a no-brainer to put him into this role.”
Crecco, a Carmel resident, is married and recently became a new father.
