A 36-year-old Bronx man has been arrested in connection with a 2024 burglary at a Yorktown gas station.
Osweol Ivan Hernandez was taken into custody on Wednesday, Feb. 6, at the Westchester County Correctional Center on an active warrant issued by Yorktown Justice Court, according to the Yorktown Police Department.
Hernandez is charged with third-degree burglary, a Class D felony; third-degree grand larceny, a Class D felony; and third-degree criminal mischief, a Class E felony.
Police said officers initially responded Feb. 13, 2024, to an alarm activation at the Gulf Gas Station at 3451 Crompond Road. An investigation at the scene determined the business had been burglarized, and items were taken by unknown suspects.
Members of the department’s Detective Division later identified three suspects allegedly involved in the burglary. Arrest warrants were issued for all three, though authorities were initially unable to locate them.
Police were later notified that Hernandez was in custody at the county jail on an unrelated matter. Yorktown police then went to the facility and executed the warrant.
Hernandez was transported to the Yorktown Police Department for processing. Police said he is the third defendant arrested in connection with the case.
He was arraigned before Judge Gary Raniolo and released on his own recognizance on the Yorktown charges. However, he was remanded to the Westchester County Correctional Center as a fugitive of justice due to an outstanding bench warrant issued in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania.
