BREWSTER, N.Y. — A Brewster woman is facing multiple changes, the Putnam County SPCA said, after she hit a dog with her SUV.
Ingrid Lopez, 28, struck a dog named Astro near Center Street on Monday, Dec. 2. The dog was taken to an animal hospital with severe injuries and had to have several surgeries. According to the SPCA, the five-year-old goldendoodle was “found to have significant swelling and bruising, head trauma, intestinal damage, a dislocated hip, and several other injuries causing extreme pain and suffering.”
With the help of information from witnesses and ring camera footage, SPCA officials said they were able to locate Lopez and arrest her at her residence on Tuesday, Dec. 3. She’s facing charges of animal cruelty, criminal mischief in the fourth degree and leaving the scene of injury to certain animals without reporting.
Lopez faces arraignment in the Village of Brewster Justice Court next month.
