KATONAH, N.Y. - Harvey School skier Cooper Anthony of Bedford is three-for-three in earning points for his Cavalier racing mates.
Competing for Harvey against skiers from five Berkshire Hudson Ski League (BHSL) squads on Wednesday, Feb. 5, Anthony, a freshman, finished No. 8 from among a field of 75 slalom racers at a BHSL meet in Cornwall, Connecticut. In his team’s three meets this winter, Anthony has finished in the top 10 in each race to garner points for Harvey in the team league rankings. He is the only Harvey skier to earn points so far this season.
Praising Anthony’s performance at Wednesday’s meet, Harvey ski team coach Simon Leibovic said “Cooper had another outstanding showing.” In the three races Harvey has competed in this season, Anthony finished in eighth place twice and 10th place once to qualify for points earned. Anthony capped off his fine day on the slopes by earning the team’s Spotlight Award.
In addition to Harvey’s team, the other schools participating in the BHSL race were Dutchess Day School, Washington Mountain School, Rumsey Hall, Housatonic Valley Regional High School, and Marvelwood.
Harvey skiers, currently holding down fifth place in the BHSL rankings, have two race events remaining this winter.
Coach Leibovic said, “The team is looking forward to the home stretch of the season.”
Harvey’s next ski meet is Wednesday, Feb. 19 on Mohawk Mountain at 3 p.m.
