Bedford tops ‘New York’s Safest Cities’ list

BEDFORD, N.Y. - A recent report from personal security website Safewise has Bedford ranked as the safest city in New York. 

The annual report is compiled from FBI crime data and analyzed by a panel of experts in the fields of criminal justice, crime trends, and personal safety. 

For the second straight year, Bedford took the top spot on Safewise’s list of safest towns in New York. 

According to the report, Bedford reported a rate of violent crime at an almost nonexistent 0.1, while property crime tallied 1.3 incidents for every 1,000 residents. 

In response, the Town of Bedford posted the following statement on its website: 

“For the second year in a row, the Town of Bedford has been ranked #1 on the 2025 Safest Cities in NY list produced by SafeWise. This is based on the latest FBI crime data and thanks to our Police Department, public safety investments, and our residents who take care to lock doors, report suspicious activity, and keep an eye out for one another. Thanks to everyone who helps keep our town safe!”
