BEDFORD, N.Y. - At its January meeting, the Bedford Democratic Committee (BDC) officially endorsed a slate of candidates for the 2025 election cycle, reaffirming its commitment to experienced leadership and community-driven governance.

The BDC has endorsed the following candidates:

Bedford Town Supervisor Ellen Calves, who has served in the role since 2022, secured the endorsement for re-election. Under her leadership, the town has maintained its AAA bond rating, kept the budget under the tax cap, and secured grants for downtown improvements in Bedford Hills. Her priorities continue to be affordability, housing, resiliency, and sustainability.

Stephanie McCaine, a lifelong Katonah resident, received the BDC’s endorsement for re-election to the Bedford Town Board. Committed to sound policy and effective governance, McCaine has served as a liaison to the Bedford Police Department and the Recreation and Parks Department, ensuring that decisions are data-informed to serve the best interests of all residents.

Midge Iorio, a long-time community advocate through roles at Bedford 2030, which she has led for the past 13 years, the Katonah Chamber of Commerce, KVIS and the Katonah Elementary School PTO, was endorsed to fill the Town Board seat being vacated by Andrés Castillo, who has chosen not to seek re-election.

The committee also endorsed Town Justice Jodi Kimmel for another term. Known for her dedication to family justice, Kimmel has actively contributed to Westchester’s Domestic Violence Council and New York’s Cyber Abuse Task Force, demonstrating a firm commitment to protecting vulnerable individuals in the community.

Town Clerk Allie Whalen was endorsed to run for a full term in November 2025. Since stepping into the role, Whalen has modernized the Town Clerk’s office, streamlining processes with expanded online form submissions and establishing a social media presence to enhance communication with residents.

Additionally, the BDC endorsed District 2 County Legislator Erika Pierce for re-election. Now in her second term, Erika's work at the Board of Legislators focuses on infrastructure, the environment, public health, and safety. She was recently honored as NYSPHA’s 2024 Public Health Legislator of the Year and serves as Vice Chair of the National Association of Counties’ Environment, Energy, and Land Use Committee. Erika's latest legislation, creating a free County Park Pass for Veterans, was just signed into law.

The BDC encourages the community to meet the candidates on Saturday, Feb. 22, at LMNOP Bakery at 25 Katonah Avenue in Katonah from 5 to 7 p.m.

The 2025 Democratic slate will mix and mingle for a night of conversation about what our elected officials can do to better serve the Town of Bedford.
