Somers Lions Den: A chance to win big while changing lives

SOMERS, N.Y. - In every community, there are moments when neighbors step up to help one another. In Somers, that spirit of giving has long been embodied by the Somers Lions Club, and this year the organization is offering another exciting opportunity to support local causes while taking a chance on an incredible prize.

The Somers Lions Club has officially launched its annual Charity Raffle, giving participants the chance to win either $30,000 in cash or a new 2026 Ford Mustang Coupe, generously provided by Park Ford of Mahopac. Additional prizes include $2,500 for second place, $1,000 for third place and $500 for fourth place.

While the prizes are enticing, the raffle's true purpose is supporting the community. Every ticket purchased helps fund scholarships for Somers High School graduates and supports organizations such as Make-A-Wish Hudson Valley, Friends of Karen and Alliance for Safe Kids (ASK), as well as local families facing hardship and other charitable causes.

For members of the Somers Lions Club, the raffle represents something deeply personal: neighbors helping neighbors.

“Behind every ticket is an opportunity to make a real difference in someone’s life,” club members said. “Sometimes help comes in the form of a scholarship that opens doors for a young person. Sometimes it is assistance for a family facing unimaginable hardship. Sometimes it is support that reminds people they are not alone during difficult times.”

The Somers Lions Club has spent years serving the community, often working behind the scenes to identify local needs and provide meaningful assistance. Their efforts have touched countless lives, from helping families navigate medical challenges to supporting students as they pursue higher education.

Club members say none of that would be possible without the support of the community.

“We are incredibly grateful to the people of Somers and beyond who continue to believe in what we do,” the organization said. “Every ticket purchased, every event attended and every act of support allows us to continue serving others. The generosity of this community makes our work possible.”

At a time when many families and nonprofit organizations face growing challenges, Lions Club members hope residents will view the raffle as more than just a chance to win. They see it as an opportunity to make a direct impact on the lives of neighbors in need.

Tickets are $100 each or three for $250. The winning ticket will be drawn during the Somers Independence Day Celebration on July 1, 2026. Winners do not need to be present to claim their prizes.

As excitement builds around the possibility of driving away in a new Mustang or taking home a life-changing cash prize, the Somers Lions Club hopes the raffle serves as a reminder of what a caring community can accomplish when neighbors come together.
