Somers wrestlers go undefeated to win Nanuet tournament

SOMERS, N.Y. - The Somers wrestling team delivered a dominant performance on Saturday, Dec. 6, capturing the 2025 Nanuet Tournament championship with an undefeated 5–0 record and continuing its strong start to the season.

Somers earned a convincing 50–22 victory over Scarsdale, a 57–24 win against Babylon and a commanding 55–21 decision over Nyack. In two tightly contested duals, the Tuskers held off host Nanuet, 38–27, and a hard-fought 42–29 win over Red Hook.

Several Somers wrestlers turned in outstanding individual performances throughout the tournament. Ethan Steuber (118), Loghan Dwyer (126/132), Ryan Ball (138), Cal Ehrmann (144), and Derek Kuchinsky (150) each went a perfect 5–0 on the day, providing consistent points across the lineup. Robbie DeCamp (126/132) added a strong 4–1 showing, while Jordan Daniyan (165) and TJ Mauro (190) also posted 4–1 records. Oliver Pena (285) finished 3–1, Joe Simoncini (157) went 3–2, and John Jackson (110) battled through a competitive bracket, finishing 2–3.

Ryan Ball’s performance stood out among an already impressive team showing. Ball was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Wrestler after going 5–0 at 138 pounds. In his first win of the day, Ball surpassed Brian Mullaney on Somers’ all-time wins list, reaching the 160-win milestone. By the end of the tournament, Ball’s career total climbed to 164 victories.

With the Nanuet Tournament title in hand, Somers continues to build momentum early in the season. The Tuskers are currently 6–0 overall and ranked second among large schools in Section One.
