SOMERS, N.Y. - A Somers woman was charged with driving while intoxicated following a property-damage crash on West Hill Drive on Tuesday, June 16, according to New York State Police.

Troopers responded to the scene at approximately 5:45 p.m. after receiving a report that a vehicle had struck a utility pole. No injuries were reported.

During their investigation, police said the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, Maria Martinez De Luca, 45, of Somers, exhibited signs of intoxication. She was administered standardized field sobriety tests, which she failed, according to police.

De Luca was taken into custody and transported to the State Police barracks in Somers for processing. There, she submitted to a chemical breath test that yielded a blood alcohol content of 0.35 percent.

As a result, De Luca was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, for allegedly operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol content of 0.18 percent or greater, and driving while intoxicated. Both charges are unclassified misdemeanors.

Police issued De Luca an appearance ticket directing her to appear in Somers Town Court on July 6 at 5:30 p.m. After processing, she was transported to a local medical facility for evaluation.
