Somers Volunteer Fire Department seeks new members

SOMERS, N.Y. - In order to continue providing the invaluable emergency response services to the community, the Somers Volunteer Fire Department is looking for new members.

The SVFD issued the following statement and call to action:

“In order to maintain the fire and EMS services that we provide on a daily basis to the residents of Somers, we need additional help! With the growth of the town, there has been an increase in call volume each year. 2024 was another record-breaking year for the SVFD, responding to a total of 3,115 calls for service. That is up over 470 calls from 2023. Our members put countless hours of their own time to ensure services are provided to the Town of Somers. The Somers Volunteer Fire Department does not require prior training or experience. We are looking for committed volunteers who have the drive, passion, and the will to help others!”
