SOMERS, N.Y. - A three-car motor vehicle accident Thursday night on Route 118 resulted in one person being trapped inside a vehicle and temporarily shut down the roadway, according to the Somers Volunteer Fire Department.
Emergency crews were dispatched at 8:39 p.m. on Feb. 12 for a reported rollover crash with entrapment. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a three-vehicle collision with one individual trapped inside one of the vehicles.
Somers firefighters quickly stabilized the vehicle to prevent further movement and worked to extricate the patient safely. Once removed, EMS personnel assessed the individual at the scene before transporting the patient to a local hospital. The extent of injuries was not immediately released.
Route 118 was closed for approximately one hour as crews worked to secure the scene and clear the roadway. Fire department units returned to service later that evening.
