NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - A Somers man faces misdemeanor charges in connection with an incident involving a female pedestrian in North Salem, state police reported Thursday.
Michael P. Danko, 46, was arrested on June 1 following an investigation.
According to police, a witness had called 911 regarding an encounter on Mills Road.
The alleged victim, a 74-year-old woman, told authorites that the incident was “part of ongoing unwanted contact that had occurred over several months,” police said.
She reported that Danko had “repeatedly approached her while she was walking and made inappropriate comments that caused her to fear for her safety.”
After consulting with the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office, state police charged Danko with stalking in the fourth degree and harassment in the first degree, both class B misdemeanors.
Danko was arraigned in the Town of North Salem Justice Court, where a full stay-away Order of Protection was issued on behalf of the victim.
He is scheduled to return to court on June 15.
