SOMERS, N.Y. - From May 13 to 17, Fireman’s Field was transformed into nonstop family fun as the community gathered for the annual Somers Lions Club Carnival!
Beautiful weather brought the crowds all week, culminating with a packed day of events on Sunday, May 17. Highlights of the afternoon included several local officials showcasing their community spirit by taking a turn in the dunk tank, including Superintendent Adam Bronstein, Somers Intermediate School Vice Principal Dr. Kyle Grogan, Highway Superintendent Nick DeVito, and Somers Supervisor Rob Scorrano.
Festivities also saw a number of Somers High School students put their appetites to the test in the pie eating contest, with sophomore Ayden Purpura claiming a hard-fought victory.
“It was all about being methodical and eating it the right way,” said Purpura when asked about the key to his success.
Kieran Picco finished the contest in second place, with Jayden Newman taking third place honors.
