Regeneron Westchester Science and Engineering Fair returns to Somers on March 15

SOMERS, N.Y. - On Saturday, March 15, more than 750 students from over 40 Westchester and Putnam County high schools will showcase their graduate-level science research projects in a competitive poster venue at the 24th Annual Regeneron Westchester Science and Engineering Fair at Somers High School. 

Participants, mostly composed of seniors and juniors involved in their high school science research programs, will showcase their work via poster presentations. Their findings will be judged by local experts in the fields of life science, physical science, environmental studies, psychology, and engineering. 

Twenty top projects will win spots at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), a program of the Society for Science and the world's largest high school STEM competition. Regeneron ISEF will be held this May in Columbus, Ohio and will bring together more than 1,700 science fair winners from over 60 countries. 

Five additional projects will win a spot at the International Genius Olympiad, where more than 600 students from over 70 countries will compete with projects focused on sustainability in the areas of energy, environment, engineering, and global health.

The Regeneron Westchester Science and Engineering Fair competition will be held on Saturday, March 15, with the public invited to view student presentations from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Somers High School gymnasium at 120 Primrose St. in Lincolndale. 

Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on Thursday, March 20. 

The Regeneron - Westchester Science and Engineering Fair, is made possible by the generous contributions of local corporations including Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Con Edison and Carl Zeiss Microscopy. Additional sponsors include IBM, Boehringer Ingelheim Cares Foundation, Westchester Academy of Medicine, Teatown, DataClassroom, Edward Jones Investing (Mt. Kisco), Leason Ellis Intellectual Property Attorneys and others. 

In total, the sponsors have donated over $150,000 for this year’s event, enabling WESEF to award nearly 60 percent of all students with some form of recognition.
