SOMERS, N.Y. - Somers High School graduate Jared Mazzola has once again earned the Community MVP Award from Republic FC of the USL Championship, marking his second consecutive year receiving the honor.
The goalkeeper and member of the SHS Class of 2017 was recognized not only for his excellence on the field—helping lead Republic FC to the USL Jägermeister Cup Final—but also for his extraordinary commitment to community service.
Over the past two seasons, Mazzola has logged more community service hours than any other player, visiting UC Davis Children’s Hospital, mentoring athletes on Republic FC’s Unified Team, and even collaborating with a young cancer patient to design custom Superhero Cleats benefiting the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.
“Jared embodies what it means to be Indomitable, both on and off the pitch,” said Republic FC Vice President of Community Investment Scott Moak. “His heart for our community and his willingness to give back make him the perfect choice for our Community MVP.”
Mazzola’s efforts also earned him a nomination for the league’s USL Hometown Heroes Award, further cementing his reputation as both a talented athlete and a community leader.
